Lisa Andreas, M.S.W. – Biographical Sketch
Following a successful career in technical sales, Ms. Andreas, in 2001, redirected her vocational aspirations to the field of social work. That spring, she accepted a position as a vocational case manager at a sheltered workshop. In that capacity, Ms. Andreas performed assessments and created treatment plans that included employment assistance, alcohol and drug monitoring and housing placement. Her clientele included individuals who recently had been released from prison or who were fulfilling a community service requirement as a part of a court-ordered sentencing plan.
Upon earning her Masters Degree in Social Work in 2002, Ms. Andreas mentored with other experienced mitigation Specialists before launching her private practice as a sentencing consultant in Madison, Wisconsin. Her cases completed have yielded a high rate of success, impressing defense attorneys, prosecutors and judges alike. Ms. Andreas is much in demand for her accurate, insightful report writing in which she develops creative alternatives to incarceration.
In 2004, Ms. Andreas founded the sentencing consulting firm of Andreas Associates, LLC and opened an office in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. Ms. Andreas subsequently relocated her office to Middleton, Wisconsin in 2008.
Ms. Andreas has been an active member of the National Association of Sentencing and Mitigation Specialists (NASAMS) since 2002. She is a current member of its executive committee and has served on its conference committees. Ms. Andreas is the recipient of the NASAMS 2009 Presidential Award in recognition of her “extraordinary dedication to the work of the Executive Committee and the Alliance.” Ms. Andreas is also a member of the National Legal Aid and Defender Association (NLADA).
Ms. Andreas coordinates the quarterly meetings of Wisconsin Sentencing Professionals. She serves on the board of Omega School, an alternative school for individuals seeking to earn a GED or HSED. She also is currently involved in the development of the McFarland, Wisconsin Youth Court.
On January 2, 2007, the Wisconsin State Journal published a brief biography of Ms Andreas, entitled She Strives To Help Prisoners Turn Their Lives Around.
