Jacqueline Schmidt, M.S.W. – Biographical Sketch
After obtaining her Bachelors Degree in Social Work from University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ms. Schmidt was employed as a counselor at a day treatment program for individuals who were recently released from prison or were facing an alternative to revocation. The program focused on substance abuse issues, cognitive thinking, employment, and independent living skills.
While earning her Masters Degree in Social Work, Ms. Schmidt was employed as a case manager at an outpatient mental health clinic where she worked with individuals with a variety of mental health issues.
Upon earning her Masters Degree from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Ms. Schmidt accepted a position as a Federal Probation Officer in the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Her duties included supervising pre-and post-conviction individuals, writing Federal Pre-sentence Reports, calculating the Sentencing Guidelines and completing bond reports. Ms. Schmidt also acted as a mentor to new probation officers and was involved in training them in all aspects of the job. She was a member of the training committee that helped organize seminars, retreats and other training opportunities for probation officers.
In October 2008, Ms. Schmidt redirected her vocational aspirations to that of a mitigation specialist and sentencing consultant for both Federal and State Courts. She is a member of the National Association of Sentencing and Mitigation Specialists.
